Windy Weekend

July 26, 2010

We were soon pursued by two police cars flashing their lights – we pulled over to find they sped past and to a waiting helicopter – they were delivering the Red Arrows Red 10 (the commentator) and his mechanic (in case his voice breaks?) to head off back to their plane.

A splendid dinner at the Anglers Arms near Rothbury where photographing the lovely railway carriage dining experience meant standing in front of a door which turned out to be the main door from the kitchen thus ensuring a dropped plate and cutlery experience for the waitress expecting a freely swinging door… This also meant a side trip as ghouls to spot the site of Raoul Moat’s adventures in the sewers (the Grand Theft Auto Rothbury game as reported by the gutter press turned out to be a splendid hoax) and pondering why the Turk’s Plan ‘C’ restaurant beside the Turk’s Head is so named! Kim managed to swerve to avoid hitting a hedgehog but promptly ran down Bambi as a baby deer leaped in front of her before running off into the woods (near the crossroads I had narrowly missed the car at earlier).
