So overall this was in retrospect a fantastic four days covering about 65 miles filled with wonderful people, fabulous scenery, quirks, good pubs and an excuse to eat packets of jelly babies. If I was going to improve anything I think it would be to make the designer walk it and realise what a shoddy planning job it was – it needs to start with a nice riverside walk (hint Gattonside Bridge) , take out the miles of tarmac road and make the signs unambiguous (some are only visible when you cross a stile, some of them are low down and so get overgrown) and timings for the Pilgrim’s Route would be handy (it differs from the Causeway although in fairness it may be risky publishing what may be a forecast of variable times for a quicksand walk).
And I am still taking sponsor money if you are feeling generous and charitable towards a Children’s Hospice who do so much to help parents of, and the dying children themselves.
